I ordered a 950 in mid January. I think I can wait another month, the wait is rough. I keep hoping Someone on this list will make the announcement the shipping has begun. I have my fingers crossed.

So who has been waiting the longest? I first read about the 950 sometime around last September and have been waiting since then for it to be released. When did news of the 950 first appear?

The 950 has a long and convoluted history. There is at least one person on Home Theater Forum who has said repeatedly that he has been waiting for the 950 since late '99 -- he's getting impatient, needless to say.
Originally announced some time in 2000 (maybe even late '99?) as one of two planned pre/pros, the first design was apparently scrapped and a more robust design developed. An alpha version of the 950's chassis appeared at the 2001 CES (without any actual "guts" at that early stage). Features were kept pretty quiet until last fall.
