Anyone thought of using a 950 with TWO 755s? I know there was a thread in the 750 forum about using two 750's, but that quickly turned into a discussion on the technical details of biamping.

I'm strongly leaning toward buying a 755 instead of a 770 for my 950, as I only have 5 speakers now. Even though I plan to go to 7.1 within the year, I'll hopefully be able to buy a monster two channel amp for the fronts at that point.

But instead of a monster two channel amp, the thought of using a second 755 occurred to me. That would give me two rear channels and would give me the option of biamping the fronts.

Or would I be better off just getting the 770 now, and be done with it on the amplification front for a while? Thoughts?

What sort of sub do you have? A pair of 755's could drive seven channels plus a pair of big passive subs (the SV subs are typically a 4 ohm load, I believe -- and 300W @ 4ohm is pretty stout) and still have an extra channel. If you have a powered sub (or don't want to wait until you add surround back speakers to have any amplification for a passive sub), I'd probably lean toward the 770 now rather than the 755 -- it's not much extra cost now (especially with the $200 package discount!), and you'll be ready for the extra speakers. It is sort of a tough question, though...

I've got a 200w powered sub. Might add a second when I go to 7.1... haven't decided yet and will see what it sounds like. For now it's enough bass.

At this point, I'm actually leaning toward the 755 + a two channel amp later, I think.

If I ever biamp, it will only be the fronts.
