1050 and axiom speakers

All,

I just purchased a 5.1 setup of axiom epic 80s before the price goes up later this week (12% is what axiom says)...

My question is, Does the 1050 have enough power to run the axioms (mid 90s db eff) to great sounds in a midsized room. Also, any questions/comments about the pair and whatever would be great. Thanks all....

I don't see why not. I have tried mine with out any of my amps and it ran my maggies and now my Paradigm studios with no trouble. For the price it is hard to beat. The build quality and the customer service is top notch. Also how great is great?

I wouldn't expect the 1050 to have any problems. They're a 4 to 6 ohm load, so you may want to switch the 1050 to 4ohms. While you're waiting for them, you might want to check out this thread -- Matthew Hill is running the same setup you ordered, and he's using a 1050 while he waits for his 950/770 combo to arrive. He hasn't had any complaints. I suspect that he may even stumble across this thread and offer some first-hand comments on how the 1050 handles them in the next day or so.

I have the outlaw 1050 drive axiom M22Ti. But I feel the output power of 1050 is NOT enough for driving M22Ti. It sounds too laid- back. The response is simply too slow. and missing lots of mid-range detail. It performs even worse than my old Dennon AVR3000 prologic receiver on the M22Ti. I wondering why everyone saying great words on 1050. I had my B-stock 1050 about a week. Since it powered on, I never love the sound quality it provides. Is that because my 1050 is coming from B-stock which may not be a "good" one? Or just I expect too much for it?

Anyone has similar experience???

SJ -- B-stock should have no impact on performance. As for your reaction to the 1050 so far, there are a couple of possibilities: (1) expectations too high or (2) its sound is not to your liking.

(grrr... cable modem at home was being cranky, and I get to work to find that my video card at work is is dying...)

As Gonk has suggested, yes I did buy the Epic Home 80 system and I have been satisfied with it. The 1050 drives them to "plenty loud." I do think that they could probably be driven farther, and I'll certainly find out when I get my 950/755 (soon now, I hope!) but I don't think you'll be dissatisfied driving them with the 1050. The fronts are rated at 500 (or 400, depending on which version of the manual you read) watts, which is an AWFUL LOT of power. I've never had any distortion from the 1050, despite turning it up to the 70's once or twice (I live in an apartment so I can't do that all too often).

One thing I've noticed is that I really have to turn up the gain pretty high on my subwoofer to get a decent amount of bass, but that could be my room. Or my preference for bass. But the thing just doesn't seem to be all that loud. When I buy rears, to go to a 7.1 system (in a year or two, I figure) I'll probably buy a second sub.

I have a 1050 and 80t's as well as well as there center & sub.
1050 drives them all and sounds great. I too have noticed that you have to turn up the amp to get the sub to come on.
I have cranked it up in the 70's myself. You can't hear yourself or others talk.
However I do look forward to upgrading to the 755/950 in the future! Love power in my system.

I think I am looking for true sound quality not for loudness. I will return both Axiom speaker as well as 1050 if I can not get them sound right to me. Even the shiping charge is quite a lot.
