Arcam Diva CD72 or Rega Planet - 02/08/02 05:09 PM

I can get both of these for $399 as demos, which one should I get? I am replacing a Rotel RCD-945AX.

I heard both when auditioning for a new player a few months ago and like the Rega much more. I didn't think the Arcam was much better than what I had.

I ultimately bought better cables for what I had (outlaw's) and was as happy with the new sound as I would have been with a new player. I spent the $500-700 I was looking to spend on the 1050 instead.

If you don't already have good analog cables, give the Outlaw's a try. They're cheap as far as these things go, and I was really impressed by the difference.

The Rega is the one to go for. Tight focused music with a warmth that's not usual in CD players. I've had my Planet 2000 for about 9 months now and it is without doubt the best sounding player I've owned (and I've owned in excess of 20). Add to that that it looks fantastic and you have sure fire winner
