Woo Hoo emulated the remote - 01/24/02 02:18 AM

Hey there. Well after a week of research, a trip to radio shack, and an hour of soldering, I managed to clone the outlaw remote on another, more advanced learing remote, the radio shack 2104. I wrote an entirely new device code for the outlaw, as if it were one of the devices listed in the booklet that comes with the remote, which it isn't of course.

For those that are interested, here's the deal in brief.

You join the Jp1 group and read a lot:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/

You read the beginner's document in the files section.

You build the simple cable and read all the files at this site:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/jp1/simple/index.shtml

You buy the radio shack 15-2104 remote ($30)

And you get to work. I managed to clone the whole outlaw remote, as well as control my apex televion, and my apex dvd player!

If you do tackle this project, I can email you the outlaw codes so you don't have to do all that work. But, the rs remote is different, so I had to map some of the odd keys (ie ctr trim) to buttons such as pause, etc.

Cool, Though I am more likely to just pick up a learning remote. Someone else may be more willing to do all that work
