Is it possible to get 2 channel stereo sound from a DVD disc ? I can only get 5.1 surround sound. I am hooked up with 5 cable analog hookup.

Depends on the disc. Many are mixed in 5.1 only, while a few include both 5.1 and stereo tracks. 3 Doors Down's DVD-A of Away from the Sun includes both, but most of the other DVD-A's in my small collection include 5.1 only.

I'm not positive, but using the 2-channel analog outputs from your player should work. The downmixing is done in the DVD player. Check your players documentation. What DVD player do you have?

If a 2 channel mix track is available on the disk it can be outputted on the 5.1 jacks as well.
