M200 - Is it worth getting?

Hi Everybody!
This is my first post here. I have the NAD T773 receiver rated at 110/for 7 channels. To me the sound is great for movies & music. My question is would I hear a difference in the sound by upgrading to the M200 for the center channel speaker? I've read you have to at least double the power to obtain any audible difference. I just hate to spend money if the upgrade won't be noticeable. Looking for feedback from M200 owners.

What speakers are you using? That will have an impact on how much benefit the M200 can offer.

yeah the m200 is going to be nicer than the nad, though how much who knows. if nothing else it will let you go louder!!!

I have a B&K 5 channel amp, rated at 200w per channel. I bought two of the mono blocks, mostly for stereo music listening.
I didn't want to fire up the 5 channel amp for stereo. I have Polk speakers, rated at 90 for efficiency, I believe.
Even with these easy to drive speakers, my 18 year old son says he can hear an improvement. Not to mention the improvement for movies, now the B&K drives the center and rear surround.
And remember, you will have a 30 day trail period, if you don't find an improvement.

I have two M200's I use for music with a pair of the entry level Maggies, but they're power hungry and not very efficient. (but still great!)

I don't think I'd use just an M200 for just the center. (unless you've got something similarly power hungry like a Martin Logan center?)

I think there's a lot of goodness in having the same speakers & amps for left, center, right & surrounds. So for movies/TV I just drive five NHT Super Zeros with a 7100 with the other two channels driving a pair of 10" subs I built.

I have Polk Rti12's for my mains and a CSi5 for my center.Receiver is a Pioneer 1014....It has some nice power and my speakers sounded great but I added 3 Outlaw M200 monblocks to power them and there was a noticable difference.A cleaner fuller(fatter) sound....

I'm running ENERGY CONNOISSEUR for the L/R mains & center. Mains are C7's & center is C-C3. C7's are floorstanders (90db sen.) C-C3 is a large full range, a pair of C-C3 could also be used as mains. Also 90db sen. Surrounds are POLK AUDIO LSi/FX. Please explain why the type of speaker would influence a M200 purchase.

The speakers used would influence the choice of amplification due mainly to efficiency and impedance. Low impedance speakers often are a very difficult load for receivers to drive (receivers are generally designed to handle 8 ohm loads, and anything less may be difficult for them to effectively support). Likewise, low efficiency speakers will benefit more from additional power than higher effeciency speakers. Forum regular soundhound runs a system that uses extremely efficient horn speakers (somewhere around 110dB or better, I believe), and he uses tube amps with ratings in the neighborhood of 5 or 10 watts - with power to spare. On the flip side, new forum regular wingnut7442 uses Polks, and she exchanged an Outlaw 7100 (100W/channel at 8 ohms and 165W/channel at 4 ohms) for a 770 (200W/channel at 8 ohms and 300W/channel at 4 ohms) because her speakers (4 ohms nominal and 88dB efficient) sounded better with the extra power. If you had a high efficiency 8 ohm horn speaker (such as something from Klipsch), I would suggest that adding a 200W amp would be unnecessary.
