If I don't have a trigger, how could I use a model 200?

You could use either the "auto" mode (senses a signal and turns itself on), leave it on all the time, or attach it to a switched power center like the Panamax 5100 and 5300 that a lot of folks around here use (being sure to use the outlets reserved for an amp, of course).

Let's see if I have this straight. When the trigger switch is set to "on", the 200 is always on. When the trigger switch is set to "music", the 200 will come on when a signal is present. This would be the "auto" mode? The "12V" is the one that uses the trigger from the preamp/receiver. This is the big part I was worried about, but from what you are saying gonk, is that the only mode that needs the trigger lead is the "12V"? "on" and "music" do not need this? They just need a power source, an input and connection to a speaker? So in theory, I could plug a portable CD player into a model 200 and be able to play music?

You've got it. A trigger is needed only in the "12V" mode.

Note:

jm99,

I apologize for the misinformation that I sent you regarding the trigger specification. While the 50mA spec will help enable you to daisy chain more 200s, it will accept as low as a 6 V DC 4 mA signal.

I have a 1050 and 3 M200's...can the 1050 trigger all three M-blocks?

It probably can, although Outlaw's manual doesn't recommend triggering more than two Model 200's -- you might just call or e-mail Outlaw and ask if they think three daisy-chained is OK and if not what you might be able to pick up to help out with the triggering.
