I placed my order for the RR2150 and am waiting (rather impatiently) for its arrival. I plan to put the receiver in a credenza that will also house my CD/DVD player and motorola tv/DVR box. How much ventilation do I need? Sorry for the newbie question.

The credenza's back is closed. I can cut some openings or remove the back if necessary.

I'm just not sure if there is a "standard" volume of space for a receiver and components to avoid overheating.

Can you post a picture of where you'll be placing it ? That would be super useful. The spot I chose for my Outlaw is on a lone bottom shelf. The back of the unit has a backing, but I sloppily cut a big portion of it out where my interconnects as well as binding posts are arranged so it fits better. It also serves to cross ventilate the unit, which is un-doubtfully a very good thing.

I have yet to feel my Outlaw get anything more than mildly warm, and I'm sure that the aluminum chassis plays a big role in that. Still though, more ventilation is always better than less, IMO.

A receiver really ought to have at least a couple inches clear above it. If you can open the back, that would also be quite useful - both for ventilation and quite possibly for wiring as well. The Motorola DVR box is likely to need almost as much ventilation as the RR2150, by the way - cable boxes are notorious for running hot, and they only get worse when you add a hard drive for DVR.

FWIW, I've had my 2150 playing for the past 4 hours, and it's still cool to the touch.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone.

Given the RR2150 doesn't seem to run that hot, I'll probably be able to minimize the holes cut into the back of thecredenza for wire management.
