770 vs. Parasound 1500 or ATI 1502 - 04/15/03 04:19 PM

I really want to scale down.....have Parasound 1500 amp, ATI 1502 amp, Marantz monoblock MA700, and an old Fosgate 4100 amp powering my system (all around 200 watts per channel, in a 7.1 system), and have been shopping around for a simplified replacement. I like Outlaws specs, reviews, and positive feedback I've read on this forum. Hard to part with "old favorites", but Outlaw looks like a great substitute to simplify my system without sacrificing quality.Anyone familiar with amp comparisons or any other advice would really be helpful....

Well, I can't speak to most of those amps, but the MA700 is a fantastic piece of equipment. I own one and love it.

Still, I just got the Model 770 and love it. For the price, I'm not sure it can be beat: period.

It's really hard to compare solid state amps, though, because when they're of decent quality, they mostly all sound the same except under extreme circumstances. When you have two amps, the first one that clips loses.

The only disadvantage I can think of to the Model 770 is that it doesn't have balanced inputs. Not a problem for me, because I don't have balanced outputs nor a ground loop problem, but if you do, then the Outlaw's not for you.
