s-video trouble - 11/30/07 03:10 AM

Hi all. Newbie here. I got a 950 off the ebay. Love the sound (old McIntosh Amp, Klipsch Kg 4 & RSW 12 speakers and just 2.1 right now) but- the S-Video connections seem to have a bit of distortion- sort of a slight transparent "mesh" look- like looking through a window screen. what i've got:

Sony CA70 ES S-vid out
an old junky panosonic VCR composite out
Comcast digital cable box composite out

all go out of the 950 S-vid to an old junky TV's S-video in.

So obviously using the composite video ins on the 950 are perfectly OK for the actual viewing output (which I am now doing). My worry is that I will be upgrading to a new TV soon & want to know why the S-Vid connections (input) to the 950 give me that slight "fuzzy" look.

Any advice is much appreciated.

I have never had the problem you describe but... S-video cables are somewhat delicate. Try getting a new S-video cable and test it out on a totally different system to verify that it is good. Then try it on your 950.

thanks for the info! I will switch out cables when I redo the entire audio cabinet this month, however, those cable worked fine with the old Marantz AV600... we'll see.
